JOB TITLE: Senior Project Worker ? Sli Nua

REPORTING TO: Manager of Emergency Accommodation Service (EAS)
JOB PURPOSE
To support service users to live independently in homes of their own
following Housing First and Trauma informed care principles. The
Senior Project Worker will respond appropriately to needs of Service
Users, enabling them to maximise their potential and maintain their
own accommodation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* To commit to the objectives and ethos of Midlands Simon Community
with close alignment to its values.
* Work with all Service Users to win their trust and respect, while
dealing with difficult or problematic situations in a sensitive manner
within the framework of the organisation?s polices; record any
incidents as appropriate
* Work from Trauma Informed Care model
* Follow procedures for Sli Nua referrals, organising and carrying
out assessments for vacant properties accordingly
* Develop a personal action plan with the Service User, listening to
their needs and reviewing regularly
* Support the Service User to move into their new home
* Help service users with daily tasks and assisting service users to
achieve their goals identified through weekly key working
* Facilitate Service Users to access local services such as medical,
welfare, training, leisure etc. and advocate on their behalf where
appropriate
* Liaise, advocate and network effectively with relevant agencies
* Ensure compliance with organisational policies in relation to the
consistent delivery of service and maintenance of quality standards
* Carry out administrative and financial procedures in accordance
with organisational policies, and under the direction of the manager
* Keep all report writing, key working notes and service user files
up to date
* Upkeep of general maintenance of apartment building
* Comply and input to the national standards for homeless services
* Be involved with the preparation of reports, statistics and other
information that may be required by the manager
* Share responsibility for supervising and supporting
Volunteers/Students
* Attend internal/external meetings and training as required by the
manager
* Participate in regular Supervision and assist in identifying own
job-related training needs
* Participate in an on call roster
* Ensure that Service Users are consulted and involved in the
operation of the Service to the greatest extent that is compatible
with Service Users? wishes, bearing in mind the nature of the
Service
* Project a positive image of Midlands Simon Community at all times
and always act in the best interest of the organisation
* To assist the line manager in the day to day running of the
service
* Any other duties as designated by the line manager
PERSON SPECIFICATION
* A degree in a social care or a related discipline i.e. addiction,
social work, psychology
* At least one year?s experience working with this client group
* An understanding of the issues affecting people who are homeless
and sustaining a tenancy
* Knowledge around child protection issues, mental health issues and
addiction
* The ability to work on own initiative
* Proficient IT Skills and knowledge with a database
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills both verbal and
written are essential.
* To have excellent report writing and record keeping skills.
* A full clean driver?s licence and use of a car to visit service
users in their homes.
